Two steps forward, one step back!

We've been working really hard to get the campground ready, but we sure do notice the difference with May long weekend being so early this year. We had been pretty much on schedule for this coming Friday, but two days of strong winds really put us behind.

That made leaf cleanup very difficult, and it actually made some of the leaves blow back onto areas that we had already cleaned!

That's the bad news.

The good news is that we got the campground water turned on Monday afternoon, and that went very smoothly. No leaks to speak of, and I hear that's pretty much a first around here! Then yesterday, I got all the washrooms up and running.

Do you remember last year the water leak problems we had? In fact, I even see this statement I made last year on this date...

And then when we get the water turned on, me and our hired hand will spend the rest of the day fixing water leaks and replacing valves that froze over the winter. If things are done properly in the fall, this shouldn't happen, but apparently it always does. I guess we'll see.

So I guess I did things properly.

And no leaks in the washrooms either. So that's the good news!

So we've now got the water sprinklers running non stop. Things are dry here, and there's no rain in the forecast.

Heading into town this morning to do our weekly grocery shop and running around.

Time to buy your seasonal supply of Happy Camper RV holding tank treatment. This is without a doubt the best product out there. Read the reviews...this stuff works!

This product is not available on Amazon.ca, however Canadians can buy and have it shipped through Amazon.com at the link above.

  1. With yours and Ruth's good managing skills at the park, be careful because you are likely to find yourselves permanently employed. 😩 Glad everything is going well.

    1. For the moment we it looks like we are permanently employed here! :-) We are happy everything is going well too. It was certainly nice coming back to the same place knowing that everything was done in the fall to make the spring start up run smoothly.

  2. It's nice that everything at the park is running smoothly. Surprisingly, we got a lovely evening of rain here in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Thanks for the link for the holding tank treatment - I'm going to try it!

    1. Other than looks of hard work (lots of leaves and twigs) doing the spring clean up, everything is working just the way we had hoped for when we left last fall. We could use some of the rain you got in Las Cruces but I guess you guys probably needed it more than us.

  3. I am not surprised that you didn't have the water leaks, You two know how important the preparation in the Fall is.

    1. When we left in the fall Kevin was pretty confident that he had blown out the lines to the washroom buildings correctly, so we were very happy to see this spring that they just need a good clean up and they are ready to go. :-)

  4. Seems to me you should be in line for a raise given how much money you just saved them by doing things right in the fall. Kudos!

  6. I hear ya on the subject of properly winterizing the water supply lines. I have a couple that I know are needing to be replaced, but don't really need them just yet. I left detailed instructions on how it should be done, and then the next spring I hear (this is when we were Europe) that something or other was leaking like crazy and needed to be fixed. I *suspect* that there was water left in the line and things when wrong. Just a bummer.
Good luck over the next few days. Looks like your weather has gotten better at least.

    1. Yep, properly winterizing makes all the difference. Less work and less money spent when things are done right. It was one big sigh of relief for Kevin not to have to worry about fixing any leaks this year.

Actually our weather has gotten worse since we arrived. Cooler and always windy which doesn't help with the picking up of leaves! :-(

    1. You got that right, thanks! It was so nice to come in this year and be able to start on the spring clean up right away without having to do any maintenance of any of the equipment knowing that it was all done last fall. And the office was exactly how we wanted it other than some dust. to clean up. We are feeling good about all that. :-)
