Sometimes you have to relax!

And that's just what we're doing right now. This is our week off from traveling so we're simply enjoying spending time with our daughter Lindsey and her family. The weather has been just "okay" here in the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia, so we haven't really been going out that much.

Here's where we are right now...

Hmm. You'd think it would be warmer here. Look how far we are from Iceland!

Kentville (A) is about an hours drive northwest of Halifax.

We've been having fun with our grandson Cameron though! One of the drawbacks of this traveling lifestyle is that we really don't get to see family very often. We were here for Cameron's birth in April of 2011, and we saw him when he and Lindsey came to Mexico for three weeks last January, but that's it. Good thing for video calls over the internet!

So, we do have to interrupt travel time to show you some family photos...

At the park.

More fun at the park.

Does this hat look okay Grandpa?

Ruth, Cameron, and Lindsey going for a walk to the duck pond.

Cameron and Lindsey.

How about this hat?

Or this one?

So, we've been having fun with our grandson. We were looking after him all day yesterday and as well as today while Lindsey and Justin are at work. He sure is a funny little dude!

And, a little bit of exciting news that we shared with our facebook fans yesterday regarding our trip back to Ottawa. We are going to be traveling from Halifax to Ottawa on VIA Rail this coming Sunday so we'll be spending 22 hours riding the rails in eastern Canada. Can't wait to tell you all about that experience because we really loved traveling on the train in Europe. Plus, we'll be spending a daytime stopover in downtown Montreal so we'll be telling you all about that too!

  1. Cameron sure is growing up.

I'll bet you both do need a bit of a rest. You've been really going strong for months.

  2. The "little shrimp" sure is a cute little gaffer.
Let's hope VIA rail isn't too much of a let down. We'll just wait for your verdict.
We're thinking of going to Salzburg next weekend by rail. Maybe we'll compare notes.

    1. The "little shrimp"...

Ha! We still laugh about that. For those of you who don't get it, the word "camaroncito" is Spanish for "little shrimp". When we told our Mexican friends that his name was Cameron, they laughed and nicknamed him Camaroncito!

  4. Boy Cameron is getting bigger and what a cutey, From what I hear Via is the sane as Amtrak is here in the States, a victim of budget cuts and a skeletan of what it was in the heydey of the Canadians luxury train.Be interested to in hearing about your trip take some pictures,Be safe out there see you in a couple weeks. 1. Cameron is such a cutie for sure.

We are looking forward to our train ride. It has been a long time since either of us have traveled by train in Canada. I once did a trip on the train from Quebec City to Vancouver, the scenery was beautiful!

  5. Not sure I'd call keeping up with Cameron rest time but it sure looks like fun. I, too, am looking forward to reading what you think of the train ride.

    1. He certainly does stay on the move but it's not hard work, it's the getting up really early that is a little harder.

    1. We really enjoy the time that we have with him. Unfortunately we can't stay longer. First thing, Lindsey and Justin just a small apartment so we are taking up some of their space, don't want to overstay our welcome! Second, my Dad just had an operation on Tuesday and we want to be back in Ottawa area for when he comes out of the hospital so that we can give him a hand at the house while he recoups for a bit.
