Some pictures

It's been a really dry spring here in Ontario, but we had a big thunderstorm go through this area yesterday afternoon.

But in the morning, Ruth and her dad went for their daily walk.

Near Morris Island.

Ruth's dad, Tony.

A snake. Dunno what kind.

Then they went into Arnprior to do some grocery shopping. Arnprior is the nearest town that has any services, it has a population of about 8,500 people.

Arnprior museum. I think it used to be the post office.

The main drag. Arnprior is interesting because there is no Walmart store, and the downtown area is still pretty active despite being only 20 minutes or so from the outskirts of Ottawa.

It poured for about 10 minutes.

Then it cleared up and Ruth and I went for our 5 km (3 mile) walk.

Walk in the country.

The corn is starting to come up.

Today, we're doing a road trip down to Lake Ontario and the city of Kingston where we worked for a couple of summers. Just a nice day to go for a drive and visit some people we may not see again for a while.

Don't forget to vote.

Have a great Saturday!

  1. I think it's so wonderful that there is still a small town that seems to be surviving. So many of them are dying.

  3. Small towns, country living - just can't be beat! Looks like a great area to go back home to even if it's just for a little while. Love the curved rows of corn! Enjoy!
