First stop was the Kingston KOA. Sherman was parked here for the summers of 2009 and 2010 when Ruth worked there and I worked at the LeisureDays RV Centre.
Saying hi to our friends at Kingston KOA.
Last year they installed a "mine" where you can pan for gold!

By the time we finished visiting at the KOA, it was past time for lunch and we were starving. One of the reasons we went to Kingston was because we have a favorite little restaurant there...The Wok-In. They do the very best Thai type of food with good serving size, fresh food, and great prices. Considering we're in Canada.
So we drove over there, only to find a "Sorry, we're closed for today" sign on the door. This is just a little husband and wife operation, so I guess something came up. I had even checked ahead of time to make sure what hours they were open on Saturdays, so we were pretty disappointed. We had been looking forward to that!
So, on to plan B. Except we didn't really have a plan B!
We had once been to a little hole in the wall place called "El Asador". It' just a little take out place run by a guy from El Salvador and he does Burritos and Fajitas and curry dishes. So we headed over there.
Great food at the "El Asador"
Ruth and Tony each had a curry dish, and I had a burrito. Delicious fresh food, made even better by the fact that we were half starved by this point!
Found a spot in the shade to have our food.
Then we went and visited my former co-workers at the LeisureDays RV Centre. I enjoyed working there for a couple of summers running the parts department.
And then it was time to head home. We took a different route, going back through Smiths Falls where we stopped and had a look at the Rideau Canal. The canal runs all the way from Ottawa to Kingston and is a popular summer waterway.

There are a lot of locks to go through if you want to boat all the way from Ottawa to Kingston.
There's also a campground there. Not really our style, but for someone passing through it;s a nice spot right in town. $45 a night if you want a spot on the water!
We're heading into Ottawa this morning to watch our son Alex cross the finish line in his first full marathon. I notice from the live online stats that he's already crossed the half way mark, so we better head out!
Will post some pictures of Ottawa tomorrow.
Don't forget to vote!
Well for $45 a night, they better throw in the kitchen sink also!
ReplyDeleteAnother nice day - Plan B's are often better than Plan A's! I find the waterway/lock system interesting - read a book about a couple who traveled via the locks on a trip. Good luck to your son in his marathon!
ReplyDeleteBetter not come here to our RV Park, $70.00 CAD per night.
ReplyDeleteAh hunger, it's the best sauce.
ReplyDeleteA nice area for sure. And the food sounds yummy. We paid $60.00 a night (cash) for a campsite near Wasaga Beach early last June, in an old tired campground that was almost full. In an area where I grew up as a kid, and were going to a wedding, but we had fun.
