Playa Troncones (day 3)

Yesterday morning while having our coffee we heard big trucks going by outside. We opened the blinds, to see that some of the trucks were marked as television production and were surprised to see two motorhomes in amongst the convoy. An ambulance and state police went by as well! There was something going on!

So after breakfast we rode our bikes down the coast road a couple of miles to find the trucks all set up in this little fishing village. Turns out they were filming scenes for a Mexican television soap opera. So we stood around and watched what was going on for a while. Of course we didn’t recognize any of the stars, but the locals were sure excited and were taking a lot of pictures.

The film crew set up

All their trucks...oh, and a pig walking by...too funny.

Just relaxed for the rest of the day. Sat under our beach umbrella for a while, and then moved back to my spot in the hammock for an afternoon nap. After that, we rode our bikes back down to the RV park at the far end. It’s on the opposite side of the road from the beach, so it’s not beach front. There are four rigs parked up there, three of them packed close together in a sort of a circle. Seems the RV park is a bit of an afterthought in a gringos back yard and the sites are packed pretty tight. It’s also a squeeze to get in there in the first place. Not our kind of place. Should have taken a photo, but didn’t even think of it.

Sherman, parked up at GPS 17.78020 -101.72206 for 100 pesos per night

Watched the sunset and then Ruth made a great chicken stir fry with all the fresh veggies we bought from the fruit and vegetable truck yesterday.

Never get tired of the great sunsets on the Pacific coast.

This morning, we are up early and going to do the short 35 km (22 mile) drive into Zihuatanejo. We hope to stay at the same restaurant parking lot that we stayed at last February and we are going to meet up with the parents of the fellow who was the best man at our wedding. They have an apartment in Zihuatanejo for a couple of months.

  5. Your photo's a first rate!!
I used to go to Troncones back in the late 1990's. Sounds like it's still pretty quiet there.
    Beautiful place!

  8. OK, you're going to think I'm getting silly, but I actually had thought, "Mexican Soap Opera" before I clicked past the break. There wasn't much else on in the afternoons in Puerto Rico, and some of them were Mexican. It's like an entire mini industry. At least that was my impression.
I'm sure the locals will have something to tell their relations. I'd be more interested in the equipment than the actors I'm afraid.
    Nice sunsets btw.
