Galetta, Ontario

So I made it to Ruth's father's place in the little village of Galetta, just outside of Ottawa.. He sure does have a nice view off the front porch, too bad it isn't warm enough to site out there and watch the world go by!

I picked up the car yesterday. You would never know it had been sitting through the winter for 5 months...turned the key and she fired right away. Only one problem was the rear wheels had locked up. So I had to get the jack out and remove each on of the rear wheels and tap with a hammer on the brake drums to loosen things up. That's all it took though, and then everything was fine. Still, it took me a half an hour out in the cold, and we all know how much I like the cold!

Then, I drove over to the RV dealer I worked at last summer, and said hello to everybody. Part of me will miss working there as I did have fun with them. But a bigger part of me will enjoy exploring Nova Scotia!

Then, I drove for an hour up to Perth, Ontario and said hello to the girls at the lab where I used to pick up blood samples on my courier job. Then, it was off for another hour drive to Ruth's Dads. We did steaks on the BBQ for supper, and had a good visit in the evening.

Today, I'm going to stay here for the day, and then go to one of my best friends to stay in Ottawa for the next few days. I'll visit with my Mom tomorrow, and attend my father's memorial service on Saturday.

  1. Sounds like your making the most of your time in Ontario, Bet you can't wait to get back and hold little Cameron, can't count how many hours I spent in the rocking chair with Adam when he was an infant. now that he's nine his world is expanding lot's of friends and less time with Grandpa. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna..

  2. Kevin, enjoy your time visiting with friends and relatives! Happy to see that your car wintered okay too. Interesting to learn that the back wheels “froze” up, I have never heard of that happening before. Safe travels.

  3. John, it was actually my fault. I mistakenly left the emergency brake on! Wasn't thinking...

  6. Sam and Donna...I am sure he is enjoying his time. He will not have seen anyone since last October. Kevin is the type that would rather play with them lots when they start to be a little person, although he really loves little baby Cameron, he`s just not a big baby person.

Bob...Yes it is the mighty (Canadian) Mississippi, but not the mighty, mighty Mississippi. If you look closely on the train trestle to the left of the centre there is a huge osprey nest. They come back every year. I loved going to bed at night to the sound of the waterfalls.

George and Suzie...I am sure Kevin is enjoying himself, thanks.
