Montemorelos, Mexico

We had a nice relaxing morning at the Campestre Monte Sur. Took Whiskey for a nice walk around the area where people own lots and some have built houses on them. There’s even a little petting zoo for the kids. Temperature was about 29C (84F) and sunny.

Some funny looking goats and little pigs.

Chris came by and had lunch with us, then suggested we just go for a little drive into the small city of Montemorelos (pop 53,000). So for something to do, we drove into town where they have a “mirador”…a lookout over the city.

At the mirador is the 131 foot statue of Senor Don Jose Maria Morelos looking down at the town named after him. This town is also Mexico’s orange capital and they just finished having their orange festival.

We spent a fair bit of time catching up on the internet. Experimenting with our new internet stick, it seems we will easily be able to remain under our 3GB limit per month providing we don’t upload/download too many pictures or unneccessary files.

Watched “It’s Complicated” with Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin. Not bad, but Meryl Streep has never been one of my favorites. The scene where they smoke a joint was hilarious. Steve Martin cracks me up.

Today, we’re going to head out towards Matehuala. We’ve been there before, so we’re familiar with the road that we have to take through the Sierra Madre mountains. There will be some beautiful scenery, but a little slow going at times. Chris has suggested a spot in the mountains that he knows of that would be good for boondocking for the night, so we’ll likely check that out. It’ll be interesting to see if our internet stick works up in the up there!

Forgot to add the map of our drive the other day into Mexico. You can now view it here...
