Verona, New York

Monday April 20…10:00pm

Slept fine in downtown Fredonia.

We decided to take some of the backroads through the area south of the New York Thruway. We could have taken the Thruway, and it would probably have been faster...and even though the tolls are pretty reasonable, it was a very windy morning. Sherman doesn’t like the wind. Either does Kevin when driving Sherman in the wind!

So we took the backroads nearly all the way to Syracuse. It was a miserable day….windy, cold, and rainy. We eventually got on the Thruway before Syracuse so that we could have an easy way through town before rush hour traffic started. Made it through no problems though, and the wind had died down a bit…but not much.

We had planned on making it to the edge of Adirondack Park, but as we were getting close to our exit, we saw a sign for the “Turning Stone” Casino. We had never heard of this place, and we know that casino’s in general will allow overnight RV parking so we decided to check it out. It’s huge….as soon as we got off the Thruway, we could see the 30 or so story hotel tower in the distance. We found a spot to park, and as soon as we did a security car showed up saying we couldn’t park there, but directed us to an area for trucks and RV’s. We decided not to go to the casino itself, and just took advantage of their free parking for the night.

It is too cold here! It is windy, and raining on and off, and the temperature in Sherman is now down to 58F (13C). Going to put the furnace on for a bit , and then get into bed with a book. Have we mentioned that we don’t like the cold?!
