Our 2nd RV

In May of 2019, we bought a rig to use in Australia. We didn't have any firm plans regarding how long we planned to keep it. If we were enjoying ourselves, and the rig suited us, we may have kept it for a couple of years.

We bought a 2008 Ford Ranger. 4 wheel drive diesel with 128,000 kms (79,000 miles) on the clock.

The RV part of the deal was a homemade truck camper that sat on the Ranger chassis. But while it was "homemade", it was very well made!

We bought it from a young Swiss couple who had themselves used it for about a year and a half traveling throughout Australia.

It was a little top heavy!

Although it looks top heavy, it was not so much so that you ever noticed it as being a problem when driving.

There was a 4 burner stove and a full size oven in this little rig. A a decent sized fridge as well.

But there was one major problem. Although we enjoyed almost three months of travel in southeastern Australia, it would not suit us for any longer term usage because the bed was too short! And it was actually that fact that made us lean towards selling the unit, which is exactly what we did in August 2019.
