I know in Canada there are people that will do the polar bear swim on New Year's Day, same thing , they cut a whole in the ice.<br /><br />We are so happy that we haven't had any issues with mosquitoes or any other biting bugs. During winter they cut a hole in the ice so they can still dip in. I'm told in Finland there are many bities in summer in the Arctic zone, and you cant walk there without a fly net around your hat.
