They try to reintroduce the animals that they can back into the wild once they are healed and some of the animals that can't be put back into the wild they use in a breeding program and then reintroduce the offspring back into the wild to increase numbers as some are endangered. We really enjoyed the sanctuary and what they are trying to do.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-27711807985023789752019-06-29T20:48:04.636-04:002019-06-29T20:48:04.636-04:00How beautiful the animals and birds! We have pinned off a place where we might possibly get a chance to see one but we don't have high hopes.

The wildlife down here is amazing, definitely a very close second to the wildlife in Namibia. I don't think there are many types that are the size of a rabbit but the rock wallaby does have one species in their "family" that isn't much bigger than 1.5 to 2 kilos in size.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-43071012113500502512019-06-26T18:40:20.566-04:002019-06-26T18:40:20.566-04:00Some of them are very unique for sure and our chan...Some of them are very unique for sure and our chances at seeing them in the wild probably aren't very good but we were glad to see them there and in a great environment. It is nice to know that the sanctuary is there to help save some of the injured and rescued animals. It is also nice to know that they try to places the animals or birds back into the wild once they have recovered, at least the ones that could survive on their own, the others that can't they try to learn from them and use them when they can for breeding in order to reintroduce more to the wild later, such as the platypus.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-39517489033927935842019-06-26T18:34:50.118-04:002019-06-26T18:34:50.118-04:00They were beautiful birds and some of them that we...They were beautiful birds and some of them that we saw are on the endangered list so the chances that we would see them in the wild would be very slim.

Yep, we learned a lot about the platypus that we never knew before.
