We have now spend almost a month and a half just in the Yukon and there are still things we have missed, there just isn't enough time.

I hope that you are able to make it back to Dawson again someday. We said much the same thing, we could work a summer up here no problem but like you, I don't think we could spend a winter up there. Too cold and dark for us. ;-)

We agree, if someone has the opportunity to visit the Yukon then they should definitely do it. A yeah, it is expensive but if you are careful where you spend your money and how you spend it, it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-37003523319852243522018-07-19T10:21:44.869-04:002018-07-19T10:21:44.869-04:00We spent 7 seven incredible days in the Yukon. 8 f...We spent 7 seven incredible days in the Yukon. 8 friends canoed from Whitehorse to Carmax. Then drove on to Dawson city. It's like walking back in time. My husband of course had to drink the "sour toe cocktail". A show at Gerties, panning for gold and some wandering around the beautiful town rounded out the visit. Over the top of the world highway and back down to Whitehorse. Most incredible adventure (vacation) ever. We're all talking about going back to Dawson. I personally think it would be really cool to go work in Dawson for the summer. I don't think I could handle the winters. Yukon territory is fantastic. If anyone has to opportunity to go please make the effort. It's just too bad that it cost so much for Canadians to travel our own beautiful country.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15619910215410473470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-70207901805896728292018-07-18T12:47:03.655-04:002018-07-18T12:47:03.655-04:00We were actually impressed with the museum, it is ...We were actually impressed with the museum, it is fairly large for a small town and it covered so many of the topics up here in the north, mainly of the gold rush and the natives and their beautiful handiwork, what life was like back then, and they did tours all throughout the day. They also had a train shed in a separate building but we just ran out of time and didn't get to see it. Definitely worth the price.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-23168627756354416222018-07-18T12:41:24.398-04:002018-07-18T12:41:24.398-04:00Glad that you enjoyed your trip up north. We have done both, the Sourtoe cocktail and Gerties and we actually went back to Gerties again last night. It is a fun show. There was certainly some beautiful scenery along the Dempster and it sure would have been nice to have seen it in the fall. We have seen pictures of it in the fall and it looks gorgeous. I mentioned to Kevin that on some other trip up north I would like us to spend some time in the Great Slave Lake/Yellowknife area and I want it to be in September. So glad that you enjoyed the Yukon so much that you went back for more. :-)Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-67140368240914532502018-07-18T12:26:28.372-04:002018-07-18T12:26:28.372-04:00Thanks Chris, I think it is probably now one of ou...Thanks Chris, I think it is probably now one of our most favourite pictures too! :-)Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-44955478031283957452018-07-18T12:25:42.964-04:002018-07-18T12:25:42.964-04:00So glad that we convinced you. We only went as far as Inuvik because there wasn't a road to Tuk then. The Dempster was one of our favorite parts of our Alaska trip. In fact, we loved it so much that we made a detour back that way in September to see the fall colors which were spectacular! Thanks for sharing!
