You have picked a wonderful place to spend 6 months of the year. :-)

We have been to Sumidero Canyon before but is was back in early 2009 and we are looking forward to revisiting it this winter. We are actually leading a caravan of 9 to 12 other rigs so the tour company has already set up guides for a number of our destinations but thank for your offer. We can always try to met up though, when we are in the area. Just contact us when you see that we are close to you and we will see what we can arrange.

As for crossing at Laredo, we actually cross at the Colombia Bridge crossing which is slightly west of Laredo, it is actually our favourite border crossing, it is also the one that the tour company has chosen as we will have quite a few units to process there and it is generally a quieter crossing with lots of room for us. Kevin and I crossed at Reynosa back in 2009 and didn't particularly like having to drive through the city in order to do the crossing, especially if we were to do it with 10 or so rigs, however that was before they built the bypass around. We have never had any problems crossing at the Colombia Bridge crossing so I think we will just stick with it.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-54092361743514382182017-08-21T22:53:39.292-04:002017-08-21T22:53:39.292-04:00Dear Kevin and Ruth,
I'm always excited to me...Dear Kevin and Ruth,

I'm always excited to meet others that love Mexico like we do. We lived there from 2005-8 and have wintered there since. We are currently selling our house in (Ontario) Canada and will be spending 6 months there.

"There" being San Cristobal de las Casas. I see that you're going to Sumidero Canyon in Tuxtla (45 minutes from us). Let me know if I can be of any service although we are the worst tourists in the world (although I've seen the Canyon and the Tuxtla Zoo when friends came to visit). We haven't been to Palenque but it's on our list, it's supposed to be the best of the bunch.

Just wondering why you're crossing at Laredo? We crossed there in 2005 when the cartels were fighting for the city and decided it wasn't for us. Since then, we always cross at Reynosa/McAllen and except for a few police stops due to our "speeding", we've never had a problem. In addition, they built a big bypass so we don't have to go through Reynosa anymore and haven't seen any police.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip. Have fun!

Besos Sarah.Journeys of The Zoohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06983303004148331623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-61976238785964254792017-08-20T23:45:28.448-04:002017-08-20T23:45:28.448-04:00Thanks for the response. I know that Paul the organizer for the caravan tour company has a link to the gas stations that provide the ULSD fuel that also includes a map. Having said that there are few places that we could stay at for 6 weeks. Plus we are weird and prefer the interior of Mexico to the beaches.

Glad that you loved it though. Being able to do a tour like this, then gives you the confidence to go back another year by yourself and see the things that were missed the first time around. :-)Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-69531660895566761532017-08-20T17:52:39.315-04:002017-08-20T17:52:39.315-04:00So glad that you made it to Palenque. We had wanted to see it back in 2009 on our way to Palenque but we had read that no dogs were allowed and we had Whiskey at the time and didn't want to take the chance and drive all the way there to find out that we can't go in because of our dog. It is very far distance off the road and not a ruin site that many would take the time to see.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-62553275373143163662017-08-20T16:35:08.698-04:002017-08-20T16:35:08.698-04:00I forgot to mention that we had the pleasure of go...I forgot to mention that we had the pleasure of going to the Palenque ruins (not in a motor home but took the ADO bus) five years ago. It is magnificent! My quads ached for days after that one. We were living in Belize at the time and hadn't hiked that kind of hills/stairs for a long time. Well worth every ache, though.
