We have the Rand McNally map book which solves that problem but then you have the problem of the spine. One book wasn't a spiral spine and I had the middle pages coming out and the new one is a spiral which I like but then you have to be extra careful when you turn pages so that the pages don't rip off the spiral spine. Feels like you just can't win.Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-84147664251634611602016-06-07T23:51:18.259-04:002016-06-07T23:51:18.259-04:00We've sometimes had two GPS plugged in with de...We've sometimes had two GPS plugged in with destination and they have both got it wrong… At that point Larry (driving), and me with the map out telling him the route to take. As the "navigator," I've prided myself in map-reading skills, almost as good as the cheerful, efficient voice on the Google Map app. Some paper maps are better than others of course. I am cold-heartedly brutal with a AAA map. For a road trip with a designated route, I crop it to the area I need so I'm not constantly folding and unfolding, and slip it into a plastic sleeve in a 3-ring notebook. I find the new spiral map books annoying. They break in the most inopportune places. I also enjoy browsing for crazy names of small towns. The Southern USA is full of colorful town names.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12957769699606351020noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-18576498606297351682016-06-07T09:54:12.975-04:002016-06-07T09:54:12.975-04:00That is also a good idea as well as the laminated ...That is also a good idea as well as the laminated pages!Ruthhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18136052866820208847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7171307653508307040.post-29816629378725918322016-06-07T09:52:57.947-04:002016-06-07T09:52:57.947-04:00Haven't heard of the Gazetteers! I like to mark our routes in different colours as well, that way next time we are in the area we will try to take a different road or possibly go back to an area that we liked but didn't have enough time there on a previous visit.
