Hybrid travelers!

We had made plans to meet up for lunch with Warren and Julie. This is the couple who operate a popular youtube channel for expats at Warren & Julie Travel - Slow Travel Nomad Expats.

But before we went for lunch, we recorded a video with them that should be available at some point over the next week or two.

It was an interesting interview because we don't fit into any particular group. We're not expats, and yet we are keeping a fulltime house in Mexico. We don't fit into the full time travel group right now either. And we love the RV lifestyle, but we're also not doing that on a full time basis right now.

I asked chatGPT what type of travelers we are, and it came up with hybrid travelers! So, that is a new term that accurately describes us...

"Kevin and Ruth are slow, flexible lifestyle travelers who combine extended stays, house sitting, motorhome travel, and backpack style trips without identifying as expats or full time nomads. They travel in whatever way makes sense at the time."

And, Mike and Louise were there with us. They will also be interviewed at some point soon. Coincidentally, they are moving next month and they'll be located just around the corner from Warren and Julie and their three dogs.

That's the mountain we attempted to climb the other day.

One of their three dogs is Katie.
She's fifteen and a half years old, and the poor thing just lost an eye.

The six of us had a good lunch with lots of interesting conversation.

Monday morning, we have a 7:45am flight to Quito. We're only there for two nights, but that will give us enough time to see the highlights. Then Wednesday morning we have an early flight to Manta and our evening flights back to Mexico City. So four different airplanes over the next four days!

    1. That's an interesting question. To me, an expat is someone who lives in and has official residency in a country other than their home citizenship.
