That is a lot of firewood!

We go through a lot of firewood here at the park. Of course it's not really camping if you don't have a campfire going, is it? At least that's what the majority of our campers seem to think.

And so we order a tractor trailer load of firewood once per year. It works out to 22 full cords. And no, you don't get much of a discount for ordering in bulk. $225 per cord, delivered all the way from Prince Albert, about 400 kms (245 miles) north of here.

It arrived here last week and we've been puttering away at it a little each day. It has to be stacked  in our firewood shed so that it will stay dry.

It's a big job! We're about half done. That stack of wood used to go all the way to the entrance doors.

The shed is about half full now. It will be full when we're done.

We load up the Gator then back it into the shed and stack it. Yep, it all has to  be done by hand. Last year, we had three teenage boys doing it and it took them almost three days of doing it pretty much all day. But we have the ability to do a little each day. It's a good workout though!

And it doesn't get done all by itself, so we better get at it!

Not a bad deal for a drill kit...

And in Canada at Amazon.ca, the popular RV'ing Instant Pot is on sale at a fantastic price. Not often that Canadians get a deal like this...

    1. There are three of us working at it and yes, we do a little each day. I find that it's my hands that hurt more than my back.

  2. That's a lot of wood to move. I hope it goes fast for you.

  3. I did that many years ago when I heated some of my houses with a wood stove, sure is a good workout.

    1. So did I! We had a wood fireplace and then a wood cooks tove and a wood furnace. That was a lot of wood needed for the winter. I didn't like doing it much as a kid, now I look at it as exercise.

  4. When I first looked at this post I thought you had to cut and split it all yourself. I am happy you didn't have to!

    1. No, thank goodness we didn't have to do that! Moving it and stacking it is taking enough time as it is. With the three of us working at it, we nearly have it all done and it has already been a week since it got delivered.

    1. Yep, that is a lot of firewood! This is our second time that we have had wood delivered here out of our three years, with any luck we will be able to get through all of next year with this load before needing another.
