Time for a new passport!

Our current passports expire August 5th of this year. The last time we got new ones you could only get them renewed for a 5 year period, but this time we're able to go for the relatively new 10 year option.

Of course they're also slightly more money, at $160 for the 10 year versus $120 for a 5 year one.

Surprisingly, there are still some blank pages in our passports!

Lots of the pages look like this!

But there are still two blank pages!

So, I've already got the passport renewal forms filled out and we'll drop them off at the post office in Swift Current when we go in to do groceries tomorrow.

Yesterday afternoon, Ruth radioed me and told me that there was a deer with antlers in the park. We often see the female deer, but not the male. So I grabbed the camera and managed to get really close to this guy.

And over the fence he goes!

And I had a note from our son Alex regarding the CityChase Race that he's doing again this year. Last year he and his teammate Matt came in 2nd place out of over 300 teams at the regional event, and then 2nd place again at the National event that took place in September.

The regional event is July 9th this year in Ottawa.

Well, it's that time of year again! The City Chase Regional event is coming up quick and my partner (Matt) and I are looking to better our 2nd place finish from last year. The top three teams in each region go on to compete in September's national event held in Niagara Falls.

Prior to the race, teams have the option of raising money for charity. Last year, Matt and I raised over $1,000 that went towards the Goodlife Kids Foundation, and this year we're looking to do the same.

The GoodLife Kids Foundation raises funds to support national, provincial and local programs that provide ongoing physical activity opportunities for kids and remove some of the barriers currently holding children back from living a healthy life. To date, GoodLife Kids Foundation has impacted the lives of over 235,000 Canadian kids through physical activity opportunities.

If you'd like to help us reach our goal of over $1,000 raised, please click the link below and scroll to the bottom to fill out the form:

  1. Your photos are gorgeous, as is your header! Unfortunately I don't really get to travel, as I don't have the money to, but my travel consists of viewing photos of others who do, videos, books and playing tourist in my own city, Montreal, Canada. You have a lovely blog, thank you so much for sharing. :)

    1. Thank you very much for your lovely comment. We have learned to travel very frugally and can travel on less money than when we used to own a house but I am glad that you are enjoying being a couch traveller, there are many people who love to do that. Heck, even I do that in the summer when we are working, it is how we get some of our great travel ideas. :-)

  3. Passports don't seem to get stamped regularly now unless you ask them!

    1. Where did you get that idea? It certainly hasn't been our experience. Our passports get stamped every time.
