Things you might see from a Mexican highway

Made it back to Hacienda Contreras yesterday, to a pleasant surprise! Seems we're having a Mexican blogger convention of some kind...

Brian and Sue are here. They had arrived last week before we left. Of course Chris and Juan were here before we left as well. And when we came back yesterday, we knew that Croft and Norma would be coming, we just didn't know what day they would arrive. But the nice surprise was that Teresa and Derek and their 3 year old daughter Cassia had arrived as well. Oh, along with Roofous the dog!

We didn't think we would see them until after Christmas, but they decided to surprise everybody by following Croft and Norma here. So that's nice, and we're looking forward to getting to know them.

The campground is busy! Barb says that this is the most people they've had in almost three years, so although it's busier than we like, we're certainly happy for Barb and Sal. However, it is going to be a great Christmas Eve party!

Anyhow, I wanted to show you some pics from yesterday's drive from San Miguel de Allende to Hacienda Contreras.

Took us 4 1/2 hours to do 335 kms (207 miles).

Onions, anyone?

Some kind of oil refinery.

We think this was asparagus growing in the fields.

Wonder who this guy was...?

Safety first!

A tequila distillery.

Passing through the town of Vista Hermosa.

  1. Once we saw a truckload of chicken feet (no chickens attached)... We always see if we can count the number of passengers... 9 on an ATV... 5 on a motorcycle. Too many to count in the back of a pickup ;-)
