Last day in England.

Well, today is our last day in merry old England. You're not going to see another post here until we actually arrive in Reykjavik, Iceland and get settled in at the CenterHotel Klopp.

Although, we will try and post updates of our journey tomorrow onto facebook so if you want to know how our day is going you'll need to check with us there.

We'll be getting up early and taking the train to Manchester airport, and then a two and a half hour flight in the afternoon has us landing at Reykjavik International Airport at 3:00pm local time. Then a 45 minute bus ride from the airport to downtown. That should give us a couple of hours to walk around Reykjavik and get ourselves oriented and find somewhere to have dinner. Iceland is very expensive, so it will be interesting to see how we make out with meals! Of course I've already done some internet research in that regard.

Weather forecast is a high of 8C (46F) and a low of 4C (39F), but we're prepared for that. It's supposed to be sunny with cloudy periods, so that sounds promising. Just so long as it doesn't rain or snow, we'll be happy!

Ruth and Harvey.

We stayed up late and had a few too many beverages last night with Rick and Helen because Helen was off to London this morning for a work related visit. So today will be spent recuperating. That's okay, because there will be very little of that going on for the next couple of weeks. Booze simply costs too much money in Iceland and Canada.

But we still have today with Harvey, so we're off to take him for a walk.

  3. Meals didn't seem to be as expensive as most other things, it is drinks that are the major expense.

  4. Can't wait to read about Iceland a place I've never been and always wanted to go ever since someone told me that Greenland was actually colder than Iceland which was named that way to keep tourists away. Sounds sketchy but I thought it was a great story.

    1. Iceland has also always been a place we wanted to visit. It is true that Greenland is colder than Iceland, but I don't think it was named Iceland to keep tourists away. They want tourists to visit and learn about their beautiful island and how close to nature they live.

    1. I think he enjoy his time with us but he sure was happy to see his family come home. The girls couldn't get into the house fast enough to see him.
