St. Peter's, Nova Scotia

More rain, fog, and cold. I forgot to tell you that on Saturday night, Ruth and I and Whiskey slept in the tent and it POURED with rain. We were warm enough, but with the wind flapping the walls of the tent we didn't have a great sleep. And it was drizzly and foggy all day yesterday.

Wanted to show you the pictures of the campground in Louisbourg. I had mentioned that we parked in the unserviced section, and that the serviced section had sites that were pretty close together.

Our site in the unserviced area

The serviced sites across from us. Packed in like sardines. Not even enough room to put a picnic table between them!

Cameron had his first night sleeping in an RV!

We could have stayed a third night at the campground in Louisbourg because we paid for two nights and they told us the third night was free. But it was a miserable day, and the actual modern town of Louisbourg is kind of dumpy and there's nothing to do there, so we decided to start heading back to the valley. We are housesitting for a couple we met while RV'ing in Mexico, and we need to be at their place for Thursday so we started to head back. Anyhow, last night was going to be free no matter where we parked for the night so there was no financial benefit to staying.

We ended up finding a parking lot by a trailhead near the town of St. Peter's. It's a nice boondocking spot just outside the boundary of the St. Peter's canal, a lock run by Parks Canada.

Looking back at the boats docked in the canal

Oddly, the fog cleared for a few minutes for this picture

A huge jellyfish we saw swimming in the canal

Drove 118 kms (73.1 miles) yesterday

Still overcast as I post this morning. Need to find somewhere to do laundry, and desperately need to find some sunshine. The weather is usually better back in the Annapolis Valley, so we might end up back there pretty quick, we'll see how it goes today.

  1. Nice to see that you got Cameron an early start on rving, never too young to start. Lets hope you find some sunshine and warmth soon.

  3. I had no idea we had such large jellyfish in our waters.

  4. Looks like a beautiful area, but sleeping in a tent is definitely not in the cards for me.

  5. No tents for me either. And I agree, you need to find the sunshine. It's beautiful but those pictures make me long for sunshine and we actually have a day of sun here.

  6. George and Suzie...I think he enjoyed himself. His two nights in Sherman were good, so says his Mom.

Donna...Glad you enjoyed the photos and info. Don't hesitate to send us an email if you have any questions when you come through this area next year. We are more than happy to help if we can.

Contessa...That one wasn't one of the biggest either. I was surprised at how many there were in just that little section.

Chuck and Anneke...We had no problem with being warm and comfy, but the second night with the wind and rain was no fun.

Jim and Sandie...Until we got Sherman that is how we always camped. Sherman really isn't roomy enough for 4 adults and a little baby. We survived but we sure do like our own bed.
