Playa Ventura (day 3)

After our morning walk on the beach with Whiskey, Ruth and I walked into town to buy a couple of grocery items, and a six pack of beer to help celebrate my birthday!

Only one more year until the big “five oh”!

Going three days without internet is not good for me, so I asked around this sleepy little beach village if there was any internet. The second guy we asked walked over to the next street with us and brought us to the local internet café. It was a little pricey at 20 pesos ($1.70) per hour (most local internet café’s in Mexico are half that), but it was the only place in town. I told the guy I would be back in half an hour with my own laptop.

We only picked up some eggs and a cantalope and some yogurt, along with my beer. We’ll do a big shop in Acapulco later this week. Then we walked back to Sherman, where I put the laptop in the backpack and rode my bike back into town to the internet café.

So I spent two hours online and didn’t mind spending the 40 pesos to do so. I was surprised that it was even air conditioned to a decent temperature, so that made it comfortable too.

While I was in the internet, Ruth sat with Whiskey under our palapa at the beach. She even saw a big sea turtle come close to shore. We had seen one earlier on our walk with Whiskey, but not sure if this was the same one or not.

Loch Ness monster?

We had bought an orange juicer while in Puerto Escondido, and Ruth tried it out. You can buy a big bag of juice oranges for about 20 pesos. The machine was 150 pesos ($12.50) and works pretty good. Three oranges gives us one cup of juice.

Ruth asked if I had a nice birthday, and I was thinking it couldn’t get much better. Although it would have been nice to celebrate with family and friends, if it had to be just the three of us, it was sure a nice place to have it!

  2. Happy Birthday from Kelly & Mojo. Things like the truck getting stuck in Mexico and that type of thing, and watching how they correct said problem is half of what travelling is about in Mexico and the Carribean. Everytime we go to Cuba we remember watching a guy with a dull chain saw cutting straight through a tree and wondering why the saw got stuck....10 days later the chainsaw was still there, stuck in the tree. Year later, the tree and chainsaw were gone!
