Hacienda Contreras (day 4)

Some of the campers were going with Sal and his mother to the Las Jaras hot springs water park about 45 minutes from here. It was back the direction we had come when we arrived here, and we remembered passing by it at the time.

Ruth went to the hot springs while I stayed behind with Whiskey and Sherman. I did some stock market trading, and then some more cleanup work on Sherman. Kind of a lazy day for me, and the weather was once again perfect…sunny and about 25C (77F).

Ruth took some photos of the valley on the drive to the hot springs...

Admission to the hot springs was 60 pesos ($5.10). She said the water was HOT, and they had a steam room too that was very hot. Some tubs were hotter than others, but they were all hot. They change the water every day, and constantly add more water as the day goes on.

Then they went for lunch where they had goat stew...

We sat around the campfire in the evening with Sal, Barb, Mike, and Terri, watching the stars and talking about RV’ing in Mexico.

We heard some sad news yesterday regarding our new friends Tracy and Jim who we met in Puerto Escondido in January. Jim passed away unexpectedly a couple of days ago. Another example that life is sometimes too short and you don't know when your time is up. We are so glad we got to know Jim, even for that very short time. Our thoughts are with you, Tracy.

  1. Great pictures of the valleys, and the goat stew doesn't bad either, sorry to hear about your friend Jim's passing. You guys are doing what i wish now Donna & I could have done at your age, but we were raising kid's and always thought we would live forever, now my worst fear is that Donna will have another heart incident before we can hit the road, I so wish she could retire now. Be safe out there and have fun. Sam & Donna.

  4. Sam and Donna...We had our childeren young so they were out of the house sooner. We just made the choice to do it as we knew we only had one life to live and we wanted to live it, because as we said no one knows how long they have. Hope you can get out there on the road soon.

Gail...Neither had I! I expected it to be strong tasting but I couldn't really tell the difference between it and beef. It was very tasty.
