I've got it figured that Canada is NOT such a great country. And it's possible that I'm thinking this way because of the rotten weather the last two days...but in general comparison to most other countries, they are better. And please don't bring up our "free" health care...that is a subject better left to other forums.
We have terrible weather for 5 months of the year, and no where in Canada to go to avoid it. Don't talk to me about Victoria...their winter weather sucks too! Canadians have nowhere to go but south...and of course many do.
We have this ridiculous "official bilingualism" policy that has been forced down our throats despite the fact that the vast majority of the population doesn't see any need for it. And given that Quebec really is a distinct society, this problem will NEVER go away. The whole situation sucks billions of dollars out of our pockets. Did I mention it will NEVER go away?!
We have ridiculous levels of taxation. We have to buy beer and liquor from overpaid unionized employees, on top of the high taxes put on these products to begin with. I would actually be fine with these high taxes if there was a similar tax credit system put in place for doing healthy things. But there's not.
There. Those are my three main beefs with Canada. I really would be happier somewhere else, and it's only a matter of time before we end up somewhere else.
