Cavendish, PEI

Thursday June 26…9:45pm

We pretty much repeated our morning activities from yesterday. Visited with Lindsey again, and then after lunch made the 30km drive towards Cavendish, and the KOA campground where we will spend the next 5-6 weeks doing their
“workamping” program. This is where Ruth and I do some part time work around the campground in exchange for a full hook up site to park Sherman at. It sounds like a lot of fun actually, and we’re kind of looking forward to it.

We stopped and got a few grocery items because we will only have the bikes to use to go get groceries for the next while. Fortunatley there’s a small grocery store not that far away from the KOA, and we’re told they have everything we’ll need for our stay here. Although, Lindsey will be coming to visit us every Monday on her day off, and I’m sure she would take us in her borrowed car to get some things if we need to.

So we pulled into the campground and walked into the store/registration area. We were looking for Vic, the campground owner, but he wasn’t available, and so we met Vic’s wife Kay, and she showed us where we were to set up. She said that Vic would be along sometime later today to talk to us about our duties. Our site is fine, and it’s right along a few trees, and close to everything. It wasn’t particularly level though, and since we’ll be here a while it took a fair bit of effort to get us set up with all of our electric, sewer, and water connections fitted as well as getting the rear end raised up about 6 inches off the ground. But it’s done, and I think we’ll be just fine here.

I’m happy to report that this KOA has fantastic internet service. My connection is strong, and the pages load almost instantly.

Vic never did show up to talk to us this evening, so I guess we’ll hunt him down tomorrow morning in order to set up our work schedule.
