Cavendish KOA Campground

Friday June 27…11:00pm

Well it was a cloudy, rainy, miserable day today! We managed to get outside for a couple of walks with Whiskey in between showers.

You have to feel sorry for the campers coming in for the weekend. But, there’s not much you can do about the weather! We’re surprised to see that there are quite a few tent campers who come here. But getting a tent set up in the rain cannot be considered fun. The forecast for tomorrow says cloudy with sunny breaks, but a high of only 17C (63F).

We had our meeting with Vic. He seems pretty laid back, despite it being one of their busiest days of the year for incoming campers. It turns out there is one other “workamping” couple staying here for the summer. Our duties include helping out with the childrens play area from 10-12am on Saturdays, helping drive the hay wagon ride ride twice a week from 6-8pm, and doing garbage duty on Wednesdays from 10am-2pm. Ruth will also help in the registration area a couple of times a week, and I help out with the security at the entrance from 9-12pm once a week. All in all, it sounds like fun. All other staff here are on the payroll and live locally.
